Challenge Day 1: This Woman’s Work, This Womb Work + Womb Meditation [Listen]
For Women’s Month, we’re focusing on
Meditation
WELCOME to day 1 of our Women’s Month meditation challenge. I’m so happy to be here and share this space with you! The first meditation is a very special one as it focuses on the core of our womanhood… our wombs. Read why this is important and then click play at the bottom of this post to get started with your meditation.
This Woman’s Work, This Womb Work
This month we celebrate the universal power of womanhood. We honor the women who paved the way for us and simultaneously we celebrate all womankind. As the world recognizes the importance of women’s contributions to history and society, I believe it’s equally as important that we recognize the divine femininity within ourselves.
Much of what we identify as feminine has been looked down upon historically. How many times have we heard the excuse that a woman cannot lead because she’s too emotional or irrational? Or the number of times that a woman asserting herself has been called a b*tch. Remember now-Vice-President Kamala Harris repeatedly saying during the VP debates last fall “Excuse me, I’m speaking” as Mike Pence attempted to talk over her and disrespect her given speaking time. No matter her reaction whether silence or side-eye she was vilified simply because she’s a woman. Our traits and qualities have been weaponized against us. We’ve been gaslit into believing that we are less than what we are. I am here saying that we are so much more than what we’ve been trained to believe.
Our femininity is a gift from Spirit, and it is divine. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Feminine energy is fluid, honors stillness, intuition, and childlike wonder. She is imaginative, free, nurturing, and sensual. My feminine energy is rooted in love, tenderness, and self-expression, yet oftentimes this can be misconstrued as flighty, unstable, and weak.
Over the years I have allowed the corporeal source of my femininity, my womb, to be disrespected. And let me tell you, my sacral chakra has been out of balance in response… or maybe in conjunction with. I know I’m not alone. Many women have given away our power and ownership of themselves. This month, I’m encouraging you to take it all back and reclaim your womb space for what it truly is: sacred.
Your womb holds great power. Your sacral chakra, located a few inches below your navel, is the source of your creativity, your joy, pleasure, inspiration, and self-expression. Literally from this place, from your womb, you birth things into existence. You manifest from here. You assert yourself and maintain loving boundaries for yourself here. When our sacral chakra is out of balance, we experience creative blocks, reproductive issues, and so much more. This womb space also connects us to our mother ancestors and whether we like it or not that also means ancestral trauma and blocks. Healing the womb is essential to well-being.
This meditation is intended to reconnect you with your womb. And I mean really connect and listen to her. What is she saying to you? What feelings is she expressing to you and how can you honor her? We will use the heart to assist in this one. Grab your rose quartz, carnelian, or moonstone to help facilitate the healing. Find a safe and quiet space wherever you are and tune into your breath. Approach this practice with love and grace for yourself and witness the revelations that unfold.
