Domestic Violence Awareness (Resources)

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we are sharing our stories and resources. WE are survivors. Although we have experienced pain and betrayal, we are still here!

If you listened to the first episode of Reclaiming with Jo + Nikia, then you know we are shining a spotlight on this worldwide problem. The numbers are staggering. “On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.” 1

What is domestic violence/ abuse?

Domestic violence (also referred to as intimate partner violence (IPV), dating abuse, or relationship abuse) is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship. - National Domestic Violence Hotline

When you’re going through it, you can often feel helpless. That’s how your abuser wants to you feel. They want you to feel alone.
